Elvis Presley was remembered on his birthday by Fruita's senior dance troupe

Here's to Elvis, the King.
Elvis lives, lives through the millions of fans found 'round the world and in Fruita, Colorado.
Elvis's birthday was Jan. 8, 1935.  August 16, 1977 was the date of
his death.
His death was the date for a world-wide celebration of his life.
The Fruita Dance Troupe hosted a celebration party at the Fruita Community Room in the Fruita Police Department facility, complete with cake and beverages and dancing to all Elvis music. Of course Elvis was present in the form of a standing, life sized, cut out photo of the King.
Daphane Blankenship leads the Fruita Troupers, a group  of area ladies who keep in shape by dancing three times a week.
Daphane welcomes new members. The troupe welcomes any one who would like to exercise in a fun manner.
Watching these dancers, each dancer dances to the best of her ability.  The troupe has preformed at the County Fair for three years in a row now, and at most of the Valley's retirement homes.
The ladies have not had training in dance but through this exercise opportunity, they stay in shape physically and mentally. You have to have fun.
Blankenship has been teaching dance in the Valley for seven years now.
September 2 you can find them competing in the senior games dance contest to be held at the Ale House located on 12th and F or Patterson Road.

He's always there

Great fans, great memories
The newest member of the Troupe
loves Elvis too.

Great day for a celebration

Some members had to miss the celebration but were there in spirit.
'Twas a special musical tribute
