Great Art Venue Oct 24, Fruita, CO 7pm


Kirk will be talking about his art work and his experiences. Place: Valley Gate in Fruita, just next to Rose Hue Gallery on Fruita's main drag, 210 E. Aspen Ave. With his experiences in illustrations and so much more, this promises to be a great experience.  TIME 7 PM, Date OCTOBER 24.

About Shiflett..
Born in Pueblo, Colorado in the fall of 1961, one of five children. Mother Margaret (passed) and Father Charles who still resides in Pueblo. Kirk from an early age has always been interested in wildlife. Spending a lot of his childhood and teenage years along the Arkansas river valley and the pinion /juniper foothills around Pueblo observing and sketching the local flora and fauna.
Kirk enlisted the Navy, when he was 19 and spent much time abroad on four different Navy ships, finally retiring after 22 years of service under honorable conditions. During his travels Kirk spent time sketching and practicing his talents.
Kirk's children include Zach a current US Navy diver his wife of Leonardo, NJ. Meredith, their newborn daughter Bernadette, his other daughter Sarah in College. Kirk is married to the former Alma Avery, his stepdaughters are Sarah also in college and Samantha. His published work include: Pueblo chieftain, Montrose Daily Press, the Navy's combat art collection Washington, DC. Coors Calendar, Montrose Style Magazine, scwbi. He currently resides in Olathe Colorado. Home of the Colorado Sweet Corn Festival.
1977 featured in the Pueblo Star Journal for painting artistic murals in Pueblo, Co.
1978 rights of ink drawing (Bighorn Sheep) purchased by Coors Brewing for use in Coors calendars.
1980 Best of Show high school art show Pueblo Sangre DeCristo Art Center.
1981 Watercolor painting titled "Pride and Tradition" entered in the Navy's Combat Art Collection housed at Washington DC. lauded by Admiral Trost USN.
1982 Published Illustrations by US Navy Link detailing publications.
1997 artist in US Navy art showing Newport, Rhode Island.
2005 published in article biography feature Montrose Style Magazine.
2006 Blue Sage Art Gallery featured artist showing, Hotchkiss, Colorado
2007 Artist showing in "A gathering of Artists 2007" Montrose, Colorado.
2008 Two illustrations published in NOV/DEC bulletin SCBWI (society of children's book writers & illustrators).
2009 Ouray County Arts Association Winter Art Show
2010 Author and Illustrator of Children's Picture Book "Maxwell and the Silly Sea Things" through Laredo Publishing
