Sunday, August 30, 2009, was a great day in the Valley and the Community Hospital Tour of the Valley made it even greater. This being the 21st year for the event, saw plenty of participants get on board their bikes, some on the bike built for two and strike out on15 mile, 30 mile, 50 mile, 75 mile or the whopper 100 mile treks offered for participants.
Included in the 100 mile trek was the route over the Colorado National Monument, a sure test of persistence as you ride to mile 65 before you reach the peak. From that pointit is down hill all the way.
The weather cooperated, even the temperature wasn’t as bad as it could have been. View the photos and you will get all the information you need to sign up for next year’s event.
The Director of Marketing at Community, Becky Jessen, was happy to note that the rides are geared for the family, the beginners, all the way to the hard core riders. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the event on their bikes this way.
In past years, riders from all over western United States signed up to ride. Proceeds from the tour benefit other groups in the valley as well.
New regulations for riding over the Monument include having lights on the back and front of your bike. For more information, visit www.yourcommunityhospital.com, or call 256-6205.
