Fruita Monument High School Graduation May 12, 2009

May 12, 2009 was the day 403 Fruita Monument seniors has waited for the last 12 years. These graduates filled Stoker Stadium at Lincoln Park, Grand Junction, Colorado with a sea of blue.
The stands were filled with proud parents, grandparents, other family and friends. With a hot sun and wind, nothing could steal the special moment for the graduates.  
The class of 2009 was entertained by the FMHS choir and the award winning band. After special invocations, introductions of guests, teacher Jim Van Pelt, guest speaker spoke to the class about change.
"The technology of today will change your world, and you will have to change with it."
 Valadictorian, Katharine Dusenbury's special words to her class included some advice.
"Live in the moment and look at the present with pride," she said.  "Look ahead."
Diplomas were handed out, tassels were turned. 
Mortar boards were tossed and the graduates went in search of family and firends as they began their special day of celebration, ready for whatever the next step in their lives will bring.
