Caught in action at Fruita Middle School today, April 10, were the science club members thoroughly enjoying their experiment for the meeting, making ice cream using zip lock bags, rock salt, ice cubes, milk some sugar, vanilla and energy in the arms of the students No kidding, you can take these ingredients camping and make ice cream out in the middle of a desert, or forest or a lake.
Here is the recipe given by science teacher Jenna Dahl.
You will need:
1 tablespoon of sugar, 1/2 cup of milk, 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla, 6 talbespoons of rock salt, 1 pint-sized Ziploc plastic bag and 1 gallon-sized Ziploc plastic bag. Ice cubes.
Here's how to make it:
1. Fill the large bag half full of ice cubes and add the rock salt. seal your bag.
2. Put in milk, vanilla, and sugar into the small bag. Seal it.

3. Place the small bag inside the large one, sealing the large bag.
4. Shake the bag until mixture is ice cream,(about 5 minutes.)
5. Wipe off top of small bag. Open it carefully and enjoy.
