Summer reading is fun at Mesa County Libraries.

Playing to a packed room, members of Grand Junction Symphony had fun as they demonstrated their instruments to a packed, a really packed crowd, Thursday, June 4. (We can't wait until the new library branch and community center is completed!)  Demonstrating the sounds their instruments can make, to the rapt crowd of children and parents, the ensemble
provided a taste of the theme, "Carnival of the Animals," a musical suite of fourteen movements by the French Romantic composer Camille Saint-SaĆ«ns. (Now this is a topic to read about for sure!)
To inspire as many prospective readers as possible, the library staff chose this delightful musical suite as inspiration and the symphony members happily obliged.
Prizes and other encouraging incentives are available for those readers who reach set goals.
Summer reading helps keep the learning spark alive for school in the fall.
Reading simply enlarges one's horizons and base of knowledge. In these
times of economic stress, what better way can one find to travel, than through a book?
The program centers on children, but adults are most welcome as well.
Try it, you may like it.
