The Children’s Nature Center in Fruita is now open. Its staff is so happy to share this opportunity to learn and grow, with the valley and visitors to the area.
The collection of creatures is growing with a variety of reptiles already displayed.
A tree of learning funded by Moon Farm attracts many an inquiring eye as kids can actually visualize the life stages of a butterfly, a bee and more.
Thanks to Grand Junction Lion's Club grants, the center will soon have a bee hive display with bees having access to outdoors and the hive glassed and visible to inquiring eyes inside. There is a large replica of this at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.
"Connecting children to nature and the life sciences is something that's not currently provided so we're thrilled to be able to do that," said Children’s Nature Center and Grand Valley Zoological Quest president Dianna Fox when interviewed by KREX TV.
The Center is a jewel in what will be a triangle of learning with Dino Journeys across the street and another learning center to grow in several years, centering on math and science.
CMU biology students are active in the center as they spend time conducting tours. They learn more about sharing what they are learning with the public.
The center has special deals for groups and schools who want a tour.
Come see this wonderful addition to Fruita and Grand Junction and the Grand Valley. Support learning and the wonderment of seeing nature first hand.
