Fat Bike Festival, May 1, 2, 2010




































With Colorado weather presenting plenty of obstacles, the annual Fruita Fall Fat Tire Festival surmounted as many as possible and proved to be a success in spite of corn snow, rain, wind, and low temperatures.
This year has proven to be unpredictable to say the least with weather bouncing up and down with wind and temperature. Friday evening saw a great band sort of frozen out as wind and rain showed their force. Saturday proved a little chilly, but everyone welcomed the sun.
The free breakfast was without coffee for a time when the cooks found the water in the coffee machines frozen. The breakfast was as delicious as always as coffee arrived from Aspen Coffee on Fruita's main street.

An event everyone loves to watch, the Clunker Crit, entertained a big crowd. Master of Ceremonies, Troy, used his usual ingenuity to run ""fair races.
Bikers were able to enjoy activities on the biking trails mixed with races on their fat tires.
The band "Riveter" opened the evening festivities with their songs.
If you can make it, watch the "18 Hours of Fruita at Highline Lake." This event starts at mid night at the Highline Lake State Park, finishing at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 8.
